Float Nursing

At Baxter Regional Medical Center, our staff of float nurses work on a variety of different units throughout our hospital. Depending on where the need is currently greatest, they are assigned to assist with other departments and to ensure that patients are given the highest standards of care. Float nursing is a complex and interesting field; nurses are often tasked to a different department each day, and will need to be both skillful and aware of the proper procedures for each unit. Thanks to our friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere, our float nursing program is able to help a wide range of patients and other staff members. Nurses in this position are able to fully experience all of the cultures and routines unique to each of our medical units.

  • Provide direct patient care for assigned patients on the nursing unit and providing leadership within the nursing team.
  • Utilize the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan implement and evaluate the plan of care for patients served, through the model of Shared Governance.
  • Collaborate with all members of the health care team with a focus on promoting evidence based care within a healing culture for the patient population served and their families.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.  ADN required.  BSN Preferred.
  • Licensure:  Current Arkansas or Compact State RN License in good standing.
  • Minimum of one (1) year Medical/Surgical experience required; two (2) years’ experience preferred.
  • BLS required.   ACLS and Safety Care Certification required within six (6) months.  PALS and TNCC preferred.
  • Other:  Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.  Basic computer knowledge required.

Safety Sensitive Designation: 

This position is deemed safety sensitive in accordance with Arkansas Act 593 governing Medical Marijuana.
